Our beautiful sandy beaches are what bring so many visitors to the Virgin Islands each year and, living here, we love them too! St. Croix is only 28 miles long and seven miles wide, so a beach is usually just a short drive away.

All beaches on St. Croix are open to the public. And you can find a number of amenities, such as:

  • A beach bar or restaurant;
  • Chair and umbrella rentals;
  • Watersports rentals, like paddleboards, snorkel gear, kayaks or jet skis;
  • Restrooms;
  • Nearby parking;
  • Picnic tables;
  • Plenty of space for your own chairs and coolers;
  • Or just some nice sand to sit on!

One of our most famous beaches is Sandy Point. It’s actually a National Wildlife Refuge – a nesting spot for sea turtles and home to many native birds. Since it’s a protected area, the Refuge is only open to drive-in traffic September through March, Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm, and there are some rules about what you can do on the beach.

Fun Fact About Sandy Point

Sandy Point is where the last scene of Shawshank Redemption – when Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman meet in Zihuatenejo – was filmed.
