If the white Christmas you dream of involves white sand beaches, visiting St. Croix in December is a must. That’s why we’ve created this holiday guide for your trip to the island. Happy holidays from your favorite Caribbean vacation car rental company! Your days will certainly be merry and bright.
- The Crucian Christmas Festival. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Crucian Christmas festival, a month-long holiday celebration. The highlight is the Three Kings Parade, a four-hour-long (or more) adult parade of colorful costumes, traditional mocko jumbie stilt dancers and live music that’s guaranteed to make even the least coordinated traveler attempt to wine (that’s a reggae dance, mon).
- Sandy Point. If you want a white sand beach for your white Christmas, jump in your beach car rental and head to Sandy Point. The beach is only open for swimming on weekends (and not at all from March through August), which is part of what keeps it so pristine. It’s the perfect spot for nature lovers – sea turtles nest there, as do many different kinds of birds.
- The Christmas Boat Parade. Every year on the second Saturday in December, Santa pays a visit to St. Croix at Christiansted Harbor. Since there’s no snow for his sled, he arrives Caribbean style: with a fleet of boats decked out in twinkling Christmas lights (he called us about a beach car rental, but none of our vehicles could accommodate every toy for every boy and girl in the world). But there’s more – a fireworks display after the sun goes down. For Santa, this quick tropical jaunt is a last-minute break from his yearly logistical nightmare. For you and your family, it’s a great spectacle.
From the glittering costumes of the Three Kings Parade to the white sand at the beach, your Christmas in St. Croix is sure to be merry and bright – so much so, in fact, that we here at your Caribbean vacation car rental company think you might even want to make it your new family tradition.
